Grandmother time again

On Dec. 11 I became an "official" grandmother to four as my son and daughter-in-law got their final papers signed to make their little foster son legally theirs. HooooRAH! Then, the very next day, on Dec.12, a little child was born that today became my NEW foster grand baby. He just got "home" less than two hours ago, and I can't wait to meet him. Wow! I am speechless. She now has a REAL "warm and wiggly" for her lap.

Passing on the tradition

My great grandmother quilted, my grandmother quilted, my mother quilted, I quilt and now my youngest daughter quilts. This is her first, a baby quilt, and I think she did a fabulous job with very little help from me. It is an adorable little quilt. And she has great potential for doing some fabulous quilts through the years. Like me, she finds the stitching very much a zen thing! That is why my blog is called Sew and PRAY!

More shirts

I am finished for now with the flannel shirts, no more fabric left! I think next year ALL my boys are going to get flannel shirts for Christmas. Hubby LOVES them and they certainly are nice to have when it is 30 degrees out!

He is wearing this one for New Years!!

CASA dress

How nice to have a dress the style you want, the fabric you want, the color you want and the fit you want! And it goes so nice with my Christmas gift!! I will probably add a panel to the front of the bodice unless I can find just the right cami to go underneath. So nice to have this dress done, now for my youngest daughter's dress, as she will also be joining us for the event.

I also plan on making a little jacket to go with, but that is just if I have time, as it is fine, just the way it is. The fabric is much nicer looking than a picture can capture.

Three shirts

This fabric hubby picked yesterday while wearing the purple one of the same style fabric. The flannel is SO soft and very warm. It may not be the most lovely color, but he likes it fine. That is all that counts.

This one was under the "tree" for Christmas. Wrinkles are cause he already wore it!

He is up in the attic doing all those things you never have time/energy to do normally. I like this purple one. Nice shirt. Also was under the "tree."

Christmas 09 memories

I forgot to take a picture of our table BEFORE we ate, but it is just as beautiful afterward. A happy place to gather and share.

Tidying up with a smile!

Looking a bit like Brother Lawrence.

Instead of a tree we gather gifts around a bucket for glass!

Our oldest daughter looks like she is enjoying Yoda, but I have a feeling she would rather have something a little warmer and wigglier.

An Escher fan.

Communicate Effectively With Your Father spray. Not really needed around here. When I enjoy both their company, I just sit back and listen! They always have SO much to talk about!!

The mystery present. A surprise that I won't soon forget . . . if ever!

After dinner and gifts it was back into the kitchen for cookies and risengrut. I have never cleaned the pot after cooking the stuff, basically milk and rice, but I heard some strange comments from the cleaning crew.

Monty Python-ish dinner theater.

What a lovely day of celebrating and being together. Yeah, not actual Christmas Day as decreed by . . . who decreed it anyway? Any day is a celebration when those we love join us to break bread and spend time with us.

Practicing

This dress is a practice dress that I made in order to get the fit just right. I like the fabric more than I expected but I like to practice with a less expensive fabric when I can. This fabric was on sale. I am happy with the fit and will make another out of some beautiful fabric that I wasn't willing to practice with. The only thing I have not decided is whether I will make it long or short. I like longer dresses and skirts these days.

Bed skirt

The serger and that gathering foot sure made this project much easier than it might have been.

SKIRTS!

I am still playing with some of the leftover fabrics trying to make some useful and fun little skirts for the grandgirls. The polka dot one is REALLY full and fun. And polka dots, ya gotta love 'em, they just make you smile.
