Chicago the musical

Wednesday night, hubby and I saw Chicago, the musical, from the nose bleed section. Fun, a great time, great music. Then yesterday we saw it again from the front row with last minute half price tickets. BIG difference. BIG FUN.

After that we went to have dinner with our youngest daughter's fiance and his folks, more BIG FUN. Our little lady is getting some wonderful additions to her family. She's a lucky girl. Less than one week to the wedding! So looking forward to the festivities and the visit from the little people that I just don't see often enough. Love my babies!!!

REEEEEEEmission!

I had my doctor appointment yesterday and was very eager to get some answers. His comment about MDS six weeks ago really threw me and I have spent some time these past six weeks doing some research to understand the disease and praying I didn't have it. Two prayers were answered, first I do NOT have MDS, no indications of it in the bone marrow, and second (best of all), remission! I was a little surprised as I did not complete all six rounds of chemo. I only had three. My white count, neutrophiles and platelets are still extremely low, but I am on antibiotics and antivirals and will continue to be sensible about germs. Better safe than sorry, I say.
So we celebrated with our youngest (the bride to be) at REEF for dinner and even got a hug from the oldest on the way home. My family is so great at helping me keep things in perspective and giving me a good laugh when I need it. I was on the phone with my mom telling her about only having the three rounds and was concerned about that being enough, etc. and my daughter commented, "it's the chemo LIMIT, not the chemo REQUIREMENT!" I used to say something like that to her when she was learning to drive. It's the speed LIMIT, NOT the speed requirement. I guess she was listening. Sure made me laugh. Remission is remission, I guess I just responded quickly, good for me.
Now . . . it can be all about the wedding and the visit from the grandchildren. Pictures and stories coming soon!

THE dresses are almost done

I've been working like a crazy lady on the dresses for the wedding and they are almost done. We had a fitting last weekend, so these past two days were for tweaking, which can take some serious TIME, taking out a seam, working on it awkwardly, getting it back together so it doesn't look like it was taken apart. The perfectionist in me can be maddening!

I still have to set in the zipper and hem the blue dress. The wedding dress needs the zipper and also the lining sewn in. It is pretty complicated inside that thing! We do another fitting to get the zippers just right, then finish those puppies.

I love the little row of buttons. They were a bear to get lined up evenly. If they were off kilter, they would shine at different angles and I would not have been satisfied with that look.

The bride will look lovely from the front AND the back. What a beautiful little dress for a beautiful young bride. I sure do love that little girl. What a pleasure it will be to see her join such a fine young man and start her life with him.

I have never enjoyed working with a fabric as much as this blue silk, what a dream. I think my oldest should get years of service out of this dress and jacket.

Beautiful from the front and the back.

The bride picked out the color for the "maid of honor" and this beautiful clasp that is reminiscent of our time in Europe. Lovely.

So . . . It looks like I might just pull this off. Much pressure was taken off because I managed to purchase my entire outfit last week.

I am so excited for the wedding, for her to be a wife of such a fine young man, to get to see ALL three of my children and all my grandchildren (very rare indeed) plus a brother and sister-in-law, my folks and some very special long time friends, who I nearly consider family. It's a small wedding but so very very special. Let's party!
