Inspiration please!

My daughter-in-law is arranging for a formal family portrait later this summer and has found the perfect dress for herself. Always the toughest part of figuring out WHAT TO WEAR! Put those guys in a suit . . . they look GREAT! Put the girls in a cute dress . . . hit it out of the ball park. So with a fabulous start, she asked if I would be willing to help out by making dresses for the girls that would compliment the color theme.

These fabrics will be arriving on my doorstep soon and I will use them to put together some darling dresses for my darling little girls. I will add buttons and ribbons as needed to complete the dresses. I am so excited.

Can't wait to see what the results are, the dresses AND the portraits.

They are such a precious family to me. I pray for them each day, for mom and dad and their relationship, for their health as they care for four precious lives, and for the health and well being of each and every one of their children. What a treat to not only see my own baby boy grow to be such a fine and responsible young man and tremendous father, but to see his children grow into amazing little people. They each have such strong and distinct personalities, and their interests and energy levels are so unique, as well as how they face challenges and deal with problems. Fascinating! Their parents have a challenge to help guide them to become responsible, loving adults, and to keep them safe and focused, but they are doing an amazing job, always taking their parenting seriously, thus having lively AND beautifully behaved children. My visits are a joy and I always look forward to my next visit. I am one happy grandmother.

Good-bye friend

I have had a dear friend for the past seven years. She recently succumbed to leukemia. She was such a lively and faith filled spirit and I will miss her. She shared her life with me from the beginning of our relationship and when she became sick, she trusted me with her feelings and struggles, including me in her journey. I was able to accompany her to some of her treatments and visit with her as she struggled to cope with her treatments while ALWAYS keeping her attitude positive. I was able to say good-bye and I will carry her last "bye ya'll" with me. I know she is now in the arms of our Lord, resting comfortably after a long and painful journey. I was so blessed to know her and I know what to listen for when I hit those pearly gates . . . she had a laugh like no one else. Good-bye sweet friend, I miss you.

Company, company, company

I have had company, and BEEN company these past few weeks. My mom came for two weeks, then we flew off to see grand/greatgrand babies, then sister-in-law and extended family came in town to say a final goodbye to a brother, and finally my youngest blessed us with a quiet weekend of visiting and watching some World Cup. I do have a friend staying this evening, but there won't be a lot of visiting, just giving her a place to lay her head between her shows in the area.

My mom was able to meet three great grands that she had yet to meet as well as becoming better aquainted with the older two that she had met years ago.

Nana with Baby D.

We spent time sitting in the garden and chatting with the children and watching them play. We also had plenty of time for CRAFTS, and plenty of snuggle time. Baby D was quite shy this time, but Great Grandma Nana got to hold his little hand and walk a bit at one point, initiated by HIM! A little blessing from a little man that Nana won't soon forget!!

I can't post a picture yet of our little Foster Grandson at this time, but hopefully soon. We had a lovely visit with him and he thought his Great Grandma was great. He snuggled, smiled and they enjoyed each others company.

I always miss my sewing time and hope to get back to it shortly, but seeing family always trumps everything else. Given a choice I will choose to see those I love, even as much as I love my sewing time. Hopefully some fun, pretty, fabulous things will be posted soon!
