I have several more fabric remnents set aside to make him a few more little rompers. He is three months now, so this next set will be six month size. Hopefully they will last at least part of the summer! This one is left over fabric from dress shirts I made for his uncle and cousin. I even have some fabric left over from a shirt I made for his daddy, so that is in the mix.

His first Easter!
Our little foster grandson will be celebrating his first Easter next weekend, how exciting! My daughter seems eager to dress him in original, one of a kind, homemade creations. Can't blame her for wanting her one of a kind, original to be dressed the same. He continues to amaze us with his focus, enthusiasm, cheerfulness, abilities, and overall wonderfulness. He will be getting to meet his great aunt and great uncle this weekend. Next week will meet his uncle and two cousins, and this summer will become acquainted with his GREAT grandmother. I know she is eager to meet him.

nut and oat bags
We will use these bags for our oats and nuts when we do our bulk purchases. The little contraptions lock with a spring, so no worry that they will open and spill the contents in the large canvas bags on the trip home. Not sure about laying them on that nasty band in the grocery store, especially if raw chicken had been placed there previously. May be a bit over concerned, but it just makes me feel a bit yucky.

nettiebags
I have come up with a name for my vegetable bags, nettiebags!! They are made of netting, and my neighbor calls me Nettie. It was just a fun name to call them. I made two large ones for my youngest who buys lots of big greens, and also three small ones. Then I made several more medium size ones for us, and one for my neighbor who calls me Nettie. I want all of us to use them and see how they might be improved. I sure hope they will hold up. We'll save LOTS of plastic, as we all buy lots of fresh fruit and veggies. They are also washable, so they won't get nasty.

produce bags
In our family, we are very interested in sustainability. My youngest is always looking for ways to "save the planet" and found some reusable produce bags to purchase online. Wait! What a great idea! So with some brainstorming, I gathered the netting that had been my oldest daughter's petticoat under her wedding dress, and some muslin that I use for pattern making and such, and voila! Produce bags!
This is a small one, and can hold a few apples. I will make a few sizes for the family. I think they will be a big hit!

activity quilt
I was inspired when my oldest daughter mentioned how her almost three month old is now amused with holding things! Hey, I can make something to hold, with textures and patterns, and colors, so away my imagination went! And this is what I came up with.
The front is four inch squares with several patterns, stripes and polks dots, colors and especially textures, from soft and silky, bumpy, rough, knit, suede, and all manner of ribbons, with an empty spool, a large button and this and that. Hours of exploring. There are also kittens, a dog, a bible verse, butterflies and a John Deere tractor!

The back is pictures of mommy and daddy, my foster son (a big smily pic is under the triangle flaps) his Aunts and Uncle, a car, a bug, and his cousins! All the family that love him. I think this might come in handy sometimes in church or other places that he might need to be distracted and quiet. And prayers all day for him to be where God wants him to be, and I hope it is ultimately with US!

More jammies!
This time the girls will get jammies that are opposite colors. Dogs and cats and a lovely shade of blue. I played around with the front part and put bright yellow buttons on Lulu's and different colored teeny buttons on Baby K's. So two sets so far. I will have to ask their momma how many more they might need.

The diaper bag that got away
I finished up a diaper bag yesterday just before my daughter arrived and never took a picture. Maybe too distracted by that little man they brought? YES! The diaper bag was pieced together using scraps from all sorts of projects, so rather funky looking, but hopefully very useful. Lots of room, pockets, clips and a shoulder strap that can be pulled out when both hands are needed. It is bright and cute with fishies, stars and bright colors. I also realized this morning as I was waking up that I didn't reinforce the handles as much as I planned. The next time they come I will take a picture and reinforce those handles!
I don't want to forget anything about my little foster son as he grows, so will share my impressions. He is 11 weeks, one day old. Or, 2 1/2 months.
He is so calm, and pleasant. He smiles at the drop of a hat and his mommy can even get him to giggle, which is impressive! He is absolutely irresistable to the Nth degree. He seems to think the world is his oyster and we are all here to serve and please him. He is RIGHT! And because he believes this simple fact he is the most content little baby I believe I have ever met. He doesn't cry! No need!! My youngest was pretty much along those lines, but she wasn't awake much at all until she was about four months old. Literally sleeping and eating for her first four months. This little guy was awake for over three hours at his last visit. Such a delight. He LOVES to be sung to. Oh, my goodness. He also makes the best eye contact of any baby I can remember, just gazing endlessly into your eyes. A real charmer for sure.
Having a grand child in town when the rest are over 1,000 miles away is bliss! There is nothing like a baby snuggle.
