Our spring 2009 grandparent picture

Each time we visit the grandchildren, we try to get a "group" shot. Much easier now that we are digital. We just sit and let the kids snap away. Generally at least one turns out pretty good. This was one of my favorites this year. Piles full of love on our laps. Yummy. I do think these children are DELICIOUS!

Princess Lulu

Lulu looked like a princess in her dress. She especially enjoyed the golden sparkles, that seems essential in a real princess dress. I have found a deep pink satin and a sheer deep pink with sparkles on it to make a new princess dress for her when she comes to visit. I also found some really really cute blue/pink plaid to make a dress, and some little ballerina mice for jamies. I don't have much time, so will hopefully find the time in the next couple of weeks to make her some clothes.

Lulu is definitely FOUR with the trigger emotions that come with that age. She is also full of smiles and hugs and wonderful ideas. I can't wait for her to come and visit.

This picture with her little sister K shows the full dress along with the little one I made for little sister K. They are so cute and sweet and lovely. Yummy.

And more Garden

The garden continues to bloom, there is lots of color all around, but these are the latest additions.

This is from my mimosa tree, reminds me of something from a Dr. Seuss book!

My little pirate

We had a wonderful visit with our little grandchildren recently and my little pirate was very excited about his costume. He is the sweetest most fun little man, and I am entirely, completely in love with him, he is precious. Each time we visit I am more and more amazed at the person he is becoming. I really felt like the luckiest grandmother in the world on this last visit.

Magnolia blossoms, start to finish

The magnolias in the neighborhood are showing their best blossoms this week. Most of the homes have a magnolia tree, but of coarse ours is the best! It's actually the largest from what I can tell, but they are all beautiful southern trees. one of the joys of living in the south. My son's home has a huge magnolia tree out front.

Three shots of a magnolia blossom at it's best!

At least the flies enjoy this stage, and of coarse it is a necessary part of the cycle, so you have to accept it and enjoy it.

I didn't see this one yesterday when I was out in the garden, don't know how I missed it, but so happy to have found it today.

May garden

I've been on the couch for the past two weeks recovering from a foot surgery. I am slowly getting up and around, but if I swell up and the foot throbs, back on the couch. I want to have as much healing done before I head for some fun with the babies later this month. I should be back to "normal" by the beginning of June.

While I have laid nearly dormant the garden has been busy. We had over six inches of rain last week, so everything outdoors (probably including the mosquitoes) is enjoying the warmth of the sun and the rain and the heat and doing what they need to do. Grow, grow, grow.

Here are the latest additions. Amazing at what our garden offers, far more than I ever dreamed!

Our lovely magnolia, we have one that is thriving and growing at an amazing pace.

Even as the blossoms fade, it is still beautiful.

These look like little snowflakes, which would be rather refreshing this time of year, at least for a day . . . maybe. Actually I love the HEAT!

Here is one HOT looking blossom. Gorgeous!

We'll check again in a few weeks.

I have been working on the quilt for my daughter and son-in-law and am making great progress. I expect it to be done about the time I am recovered from my surgery and I will be back in the sewing room. Spring cleaning is called for as well, but that is a subject that is better left alone for now.
